Chu Suwannapha is a familiar face on the South African fashion scene. Known for his instantly recognisable prints and colourful dress code and large spectacles, Chu is launching his menswear collection at SA Menswear Week AW 2015. What must be one of the most anticipated designers, Chu brings over 25 years of his fashion experience to this collection.
Originally from Thailand, Suwannapha was a fashion designer and business owner manufacturing and selling under his own CHULARP fashion brand. He then went onto Paris as both a stylist and studying fashion at ESMOD PARIS. From there, Suwannapha came to South Africa and for many years was the fashion director at Fair Lady magazine. Presently Suwannapha is the fashion director of You, HuisGenoot and Drum magazines for Media 24.
His keen eye for fashion has also seen Suwannapha as stylist on a number of campaigns for brands such as Levi’s, Woolworths “Proudly South Africa”, Brides &Home, GQ and many more. Also having recently won the award for Most Innovative Fashionista at the SA Style Awards.
Chu Suwannapha will be showcasing at SA Menswear Week on Saturday 07 February at 7pm to launch his CHULAAP label to the South African fashion media.
